绘本|《如果你给了小老鼠一块饼干》既要学会乐于助人，也得学会如何拒绝

小男孩不过是随手给了小老鼠一块饼干，可谁会想到它这么贪得无厌呢！这个穿着一条又肥又大的牛仔裤的啮齿动物实在是太得寸进尺了，你给他一块饼干，他就要一杯牛奶；你给他一杯牛奶，他就要一根吸管……于是，这个圈子就开始无休无止地兜了下去，麻烦来了，你再也摆脱不掉他的纠缠了…

 

If you give a mouse a cookie,

如果你给了小老鼠一块饼干，

he’s going to ask for a glass of milk.

他就会要你给他一杯牛奶。

When you give him the milk,

当你给了他牛奶，

he’ll probably ask you for a straw.

他会跟你要吸管。

When he’s finished, he’ll ask for a napkin.

当他喝完牛奶，他会要一块小纸巾擦擦嘴。

Then he’ll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn’t have a milk mustache.

然后他会想要照照镜子，看看自己有没有留下牛奶胡子。

When he looks into the mirror, he might notice his hair needs a trim.

一照镜子，他就会说头发也该剪了。

So he’ll probably ask for a pair of nail scissors.

他一定会跟你要一把剪指甲的小剪子。

When he’s finished giving himself a trim, he’ll want a broom to sweep up.He’ll start sweeping.

他给自己剪完头发，就会开口要扫帚扫地，他会认真地扫起地来，

He might get carried away and sweep every room in the house.

会越扫越起劲，把所有的房间都扫一遍。

He may even end up washing the floors as well !

他还会卖力地拖地板。

When he’s done, he’ll probably want to take a nap.

干完了，他一定会想睡个觉。

You’ll have to fix up a little box for him with a blanket and a pillow.

你就得替他弄个小盒子当小床，还得有枕头，有小被子。

He’ll crawl in, make himself comfortable and fluff the pillow a few times.

他会爬上他的床，看看怎么躺才舒服，还会一遍又一遍地拍他的小枕头。

He’ll probably ask you to read him a story.

他一定会叫你念个故事给他听。

So you’ll read to him from one of your books, and he’ll ask to see the pictures.

你依他的意思，给他念你的一本图画书，他就会叫你让他看里面的插图。

When he looks at the pictures, he’ll get so excited he’ll want to draw one of his own.

他一看插图，高兴起来，就会说自己也想画一幅。

He’ll ask forpaper and crayons.

他会跟你要纸和蜡笔。

He’ll draw a picture.

他会认真地画一幅画。

When the picture is finished,

画完了，

he’ll want to sign his name

他想签名

with a pen.

就会跟你要一支钢笔。

Then he’ll want to hang his picture on your refrigerator.

签完名，他就会说想把他的图画挂在你的冰箱上。

Which meanshe’ll need——

他的意思是叫你帮他

Scotch tape.

找透明胶带。

He’ll hang up his drawing and stand back to look at it.

他贴好了图画，就会退后几步，站着欣赏。

Looking atthe refrigerator will remind him that

他看着冰箱，就会想起——

he’s thirsty.

他有点口渴。

So…

所以，

he’ll ask fora glass of milk.

他会跟你要一杯牛奶。

And chances are if he asks for a glass of milk,

他一开口要牛奶，

he’s going towant a cookie to go with it.

十有八九，他还会要一块饼干，好让他就着牛奶一起吃。

If yougive a mouse a cookie,

He’s going to ask for a glass of milk…

Andthat’s only the beginning.

如果你给老师一个饼干

他就会向你要杯牛奶

这可仅仅是个开始
